The concerned WTO’s Hon’ble Panel is about to give a judgment which appears to be scientifically and legally wrong.

We have been requesting them since June 2000 to review it before proceeding further.

They have expressed that they cannot consider our submissions because the time is over.

We need to build confidence in the WTO’s Hon’ble Panel to give a bold judgement based on truth and unbiased by Public opinion which is distorted due to reasons explained below and in our Amicus Brief submitted earlier to them.

Please go through this section throughly and do the needful, as it is of serious Global Concern regarding Trade and Humanity.

We request you for your valuable guidance and support.

Strengthning of WTO
In an otherwise chaotic global trade scenario the institution of a regulatory body like the World Trade Organization makes complete practical sense. Darwin’s “survival of the fittest” theory has found its applications in explaining several real life situations and is very apt in the context of the dominance of the WTO by its “fittest” members. Fitness, here, would be a function of how powerful a member nation was and whether it could translate its power to clout in the WTO.

The Asbestos Experience
ONE is an NGO promoting sustainable technologies and has had the opportunity to interact with the WTO up close on its asbestos cement technology sub-project. By virtue of its remarkable characteristics, asbestos has the potential to develop into a technology with fantastic futuristic applications, and our keenness in due credence being given to it made us interact with those involved in getting asbestos trade banned via the WTO. This interaction has been an enlightening one in many ways. It has led us to make several interesting observations worth note in the general context of WTO functioning and NGO involvement in its proceedings. We wish to share these experiences humbly in an attempt to identify problem areas and seek collaboration and resources to help sort these out.
